Staff

 

 

Our staff consists of professionals that are knowledgeable and experienced with the regular operations of the laboratory.Our fellowship trained pathologists have extensive experience in general pathology as well as dermatopathology and cytopathology.They are available to discuss their diagnoses with you and answer any questions you may have.

 

We are prepared to assist you with all aspects of your specimen processing from ensuring that you have adequate supplies for submission to appropriate special stain for diagnosis to downloading additional copies of your final reports.

 

Our client representatives are well educated in the laboratory process and anxious to assist you with all of your requirements.We are eager to build a strong relationship with all of our clients to help us serve you so you can better serve your patients.

 

Medical Staff

 

 

Anita R. Sgrignoli, M.D., Medical Director
Dr. Anita Sgrignoli is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology as well as Cytopathology by the American Board of Pathology.She received her M.D. degree from the University of Virginia, School of Medicine in Charlottesville, VA.Dr. Sgrignoli completed her residency in Anatomic Pathology from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland.She subsequently completed a Cytopathology fellowship from The National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute, and The National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.Dr. Sgrignoli is an active member in her community, long-time Maryland resident and currently lives on the Eastern Shore with her family.

Ilene B. Bayer-Garner, MD., Dermatopathology
Dr. Ilene B. Bayer-Garner, MD is board certified in Dermatopathology by the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Pathology, in addition to being board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology.  She completed her Pathology Residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences authoring numerous scientific articles with Dr. Bruce Smoller.  Her Dermatopathology Fellowship was completed at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.  She is a fellow of the American Society of Dermatopathology.  She currently resides with her family in Severna Park, MD.

Gulsun Erdag, MD., Dermatopathology
Dr. Gulsun Erdag is board certified in Dermatopathology by the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Pathology, in addition to being board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Cytopathology.  After a post doctoral research fellowship in skin biotechnology at Harvard University, Boston, MA, Dr. Erdag completed her pathology residency at Georgetown University, Washington, DC followed by a cytopathology fellowship at the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD.  Dr. Erdag completed her Dermatopathology training at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.  She is a member of the American Society of Dermatopathology and College of American Pathologists.  Dr. Erdag has authored many scientific articles and book chapters in the field of Dermatology and Dermatopathology and has been invited to speak at national and international scientific meetings.  She is the recipient of several awards including the best paper award from the American Society of Dermatopathology, melanoma research fellowship award from the University of Virginia Human Immune Therapy Center, research grant from the Shriners Hospitals for Children, and young scientist award from the Japan Surgical Society.  She currently resides with her family in Vienna, VA.

David A. Stout, MD., Dermatopathology
Dr. David Stout is board certified in Dermatopathology by the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Pathology, in addition to being board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology.  After receiving his M.S. in Biochemistry and Medical degree from Loma Linda University, in California, Dr. Stout completed his Pathology Residency at the Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT.  Subsequently, Dr. Stout completed his Clinical Pathology training at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.  Dr. Stout later completed his Dermatopathology training under Dr. Walter Lever, et.al. in Boston, MA., and at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology.  Dr. Stout is an active member of both the American Society of Dermatology and the Maryland Dermatology Society.  He currently resides with his wife on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

C. Richard Lee, MD., Dermatopathology
Dr. C. Richard Lee is board certified in Dermatopathology by the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Pathology, in addition to being board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology.After a post-doctoral research fellowship in cancer genetics at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Lee completed his Pathology residency (Anatomic and Clinical) and Surgical Pathology Fellowship (with special concentration in GU Pathology) at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, and his Dermatopathology fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.He is an active member in many scientific and medical organizations, including the American Society of Dermatopathology, the International Society of Dermatopathology, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.He currently serves on the editorial board of the journal Cancers and is the reviewer for several scientific journals.Dr. Lee has co-authored over 80 publications including research and review articles, book chapters, and meeting abstracts; representative publications include The New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Journal of Investigative Dermatology, Archives of Dermatology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Cancer Research.Dr. Lee has been invited to speak at several Dermatology Grand Rounds and international scientific meetings, and was recently invited to co-author a book chapter for the upcoming edition of the Dermatology text book Fitzpatrickís Dermatology in General Medicine.Dr. Leeís research and clinical expertise includes cutaneous melanoma and cutaneous manifestations of cancer syndromes.He currently resides with his family in Rockville, Maryland.

Enrico Giangeruso, M.D.
Dr. Enrico Giangeruso is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology.Dr. Giangeruso received his M.D. from the University of Miami, School of Medicine before completing his Pathology residency at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.During his residency, Dr. Giangeruso studied at the Gastrointestinal (GI) division of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, where he contributed to the development of their GI biopsy course. Following completion of his residency, Dr. Giangeruso served as a staff pathologist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for four years.After leaving the military, Dr. Giangeruso joined a large pathology practice in Baltimore, Maryland, and subsequently served as Medical Director of Carroll Hospital Center, where he continued to contribute GI cases to the AFIP GI biopsy course.He is actively involved in The College of American Pathologists and many other medical organizations.Dr. Giangeruso is a long-time resident of Maryland, currently residing in Ellicott City, with his family.


Laboratory Staff Overview

Sachin Shetty, President
Sachin Shetty is a co-founder of Annapath, Inc. and has an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.He earned his Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Temple University, Philadelphia, and his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bombay, India.He has twenty years of multi-functional (engineering, marketing, sales and general management) experience in diverse business environments that include Energy, Banking and Healthcare.He has an in-depth understanding of the legislative, regulatory and licensing issues in the off-shoring and out-sourcing of medical diagnostic testing.Before joining Annapath, Inc. Sachin was in Asset Based Finance at M&T Bank.He has previously worked for M&E Sales, Inc. in Baltimore, MD in various capacities from energy engineering to heading their Energy Performance Contracting Group.He also managed Marketing for the Energy Services Division of Honeywell International, Inc.

Florencio Lictao, Vice President
Florencio Lictao,HT (ASCP) is a co-founder, as well as the Laboratory Manager and Histology Supervisor at Annapath.He has over twenty years of experience in the area of Laboratory Pathology.He did his training at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology and is a ten-year veteran of the Navy and Operation Desert Storm.Flo has worked for large commercial labs, small private labs and hospital labs.Having processed hundreds of thousands of histopathology specimens, Flo understands the attention each specimen requires.His extensive knowledge of histology operations, laboratory quality assurance and control, and his entrepreneurial spirit play a critical role at Annapath.

Craig Zwobot, Vice-President
Craig Zwobot, M.S., P.A. (ASCP), co-founder of Annapath, earned his B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and his M.S. degree in Anatomic Pathology from the University of Maryland at Baltimore.He is currently a fellow member of the American Association of Pathologistís Assistants.Prior to starting Annapath, Craig worked as a Pathologistís Assistant at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD and at the Shore Health System in Easton, MD.Throughout his career, Craig has processed hundreds of thousands of pathology specimens and contributes the same principle of attention to detail at Annapath.
