Sachin Shetty
President

Sachin is co-Founder and President of Annapath, Inc. and leads the company’s various strategic initiatives. Before Annapath, Sachin worked in Asset-Based Lending at M&T Bank where he analyzed and underwrote deals across several industries. This experience piqued his interest in working with struggling companies to help them find their way back to solvency and success, ultimately culminating in his entrepreneurial decision to acquire Annapath. Prior to M&T Bank, Sachin was Marketing Manager for the Energy Services Division at Honeywell International.  Sachin started his career at M&E Sales, Inc., where he held various positions ranging from Energy Engineer to Head of the Energy Performance Contracting Group. The group’s success in quadrupling M&E Sales’ revenues led to the company’s acquisition by Honeywell.

Craig is co-founder of Annapath and Chief Operating Officer, responsible for day-to-day management of the laboratory.
 
Craig began his career as a Pathologists’ Assistant at Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD, where he analyzed and processed surgical pathology specimens as well as autopsy pro-sections. He subsequently joined a pathology practice as the solo Pathologists’ Assistant at the Memorial Hospital in Easton, MD. This experience not only satisfied Craig’s interest in the pathologic basis of diseases but also contributed to his understanding of all aspects of laboratory operations.

Florencio Lictao, HT (ASCP)
Laboratory Manager
Florencio is co-founder of Annapath and Laboratory Manager responsible for histology operations as well as laboratory quality assurance and control processes.  He has over twenty-five years of experience in the area of Anatomic Pathology.
 
Flo received his training at the Tri-Service School of Histotechnology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. He completed ten years of active duty in the U.S. Navy and worked in the histology departments of U.S. Naval Hospitals Okinawa and Yokosuka, Japan. His military service also included deployments to Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield.

Advisory Board

Anandita “Pia” Datta, M.D.

Dr. Datta is board-certified in Anatomic Pathology by the American Board of Pathology and is a member of our advisory board.  She received her M.D. from the Kasturba Medical College in India before completing her Pathology residency at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. In addition, she also did a fellowship in Renal Pathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. During her fellowship, she attended sign out at the Gastrointestinal (GI) and Hepatic divisions of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, with stalwarts like Drs. Sobin, Rabin, and Goodman. During that time, she also did a mini-fellowship in Genito-Urinary Pathology with Dr. Epstein at Hopkins.
 
Following the completion of her fellowship, Dr. Datta was appointed as a staff pathologist. After that, she was made Chief of Division of Nephropathology. She continued to work in GI pathology for many years. Currently, Dr. Datta is actively involved in The College of American Pathologists and many other medical organizations.

Enrico A. Giangeruso, M.D.

Dr. Giangeruso received his medical degree from the University of Miami, School of Medicine. .Following that, he completed his Pathology residency at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. During his residency, he studied at the Gastrointestinal Division of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. At the Gastrointestinal Division, he was a contributor to the development of their GI pathology courses. Following completion of his residency, Dr. Giangeruso served as a staff pathologist, achieving the rank of Army Major. After leaving the Army, Dr. Giangeruso worked for a large pathology practice in Baltimore and subsequently served as Medical Director for Carroll Hospital Center. As a staff pathologist for Annapath and advisory board member, Dr. Giangeruso’s primary focus is on GI and Urologic pathology.

Abel Jarell, M.D.

Dr. Abel Jarell is a practicing Dermatologist, Dermatopathologist, member of our advisory board, and Clinical Trials Investigator. He grew up in New Mexico, USA. After obtaining his undergraduate education from the United States Military Academy at West Point where he was a Distinguished Cadet (top 5% academically). He then received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. Subsequently, Dr. Abel completed a surgical internship at the University of Washington in Seattle. He then completed his dermatology training in the Harvard Dermatology Residency Program. There, Dr. Abel was Chief Resident and a dermatopathology fellow at the University of California in San Francisco.
 
He served out his military obligation at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Abel was an Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University and the medical director of the Melanoma and Pigmented Lesion Clinic. He is the author of numerous publications.

C. Richard Lee, M.D.

Dr. C. Richard Lee is board certified in Dermatopathology by the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Pathology, in addition to being board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology.  After a post-doctoral research fellowship in cancer genetics at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Lee completed his Pathology residency (Anatomic and Clinical) and Surgical Pathology Fellowship (with special concentration in GU Pathology) at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, and his Dermatopathology fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.
 
He currently serves on the editorial board of the journal Cancers and is the reviewer for several scientific journals.  Dr. Lee has co-authored over 80 publications including research and review articles, book chapters, and meeting abstracts. Representative publications include:

  • Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology
  • Journal of Investigative Dermatology
  • Archives of Dermatology
  • Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Cancer Research. 

 

It has been his honor to be invited to speak at several Dermatology Grand Rounds and international scientific meetings, and has recently co-authored a book chapter for the Dermatology text book Fitzpatrick’s Dermatology in General Medicine.  Due to his experience, Dr. Lee’s research and clinical expertise include cutaneous melanoma and cutaneous manifestations of cancer syndromes.

 

James “Rusty” Mize, M.D.

Dr. Mize earned his medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where he also completed his Pathology residency. Dr. Mize is board certified in both Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.  With an interest in GI pathology, Dr. Mize participated in the initial research studies of immunomodulators in the IBD models at the University of Virginia.  Dr. Mize previously served as the Vice Chairman of the Pathology department at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. In addition, he has over 15 years of experience in FNA cytopathology, ENT and genitourinary pathology.  Dr. Mize currently serves as the Medical Director of the Annapath lab in Northern Virginia.

Brian J. Plasil, M.D.

Dr. Brian Plasil is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. We are happy to have him as a member of our advisory board. Dr. Plasil completed his medical training at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Then he completed his Pathology residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, OH. Dr. Plasil is an active member of The College of American Pathologists, The American Society of Clinical Pathologists, and The Roger C. Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society.

Margaret Green, DO, MS

Dr. Green is a caring, passionate dermatopathologist and clinician dedicated to optimizing patient experiences and to providing individualized and holistic treatment. Her ability to deliver clinical-pathologic correlation is one of the great attributes of being board certified in both dermatology and dermatopathology, and she values unique relationships formed with clinicians.  She is an author of 12 publications and has advanced training and experience in the interpretation of scalp biopsies for alopecia.  Dr. Green graduated as the valedictorian from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2013. Before joining Annapath full time, she worked for the United States Navy for over a decade, where she trained as a dermatology resident at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, California and as a dermatopathology fellow at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) in Bethesda, Maryland. She served as the Chief of the Dermatology Department at WRNMMC, as the Medical Director of the Mohs Laboratories at both WRNMMC and Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Virginia, and as an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. She played an active role in training medical students, interns, dermatology and pathology residents, and dermatopathology fellows.

Yoseph Dalia, MD, MBA

Dr. Dalia is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist. He completed his dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Prior to joining Annapath, he served as faculty at Harvard Medical School. Currently, he serves as faculty with Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Dalia prides himself on giving every case thoughtful, individualized attention, ensuring careful clinicopathologic correlation and diagnostic precision. He is highly approachable and readily available for direct communication, valuing close collaboration with clinicians to provide the best patient care.

Abel D. Jarell, MD

Dr. Jarell is a double board certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist who earned his Doctor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, completing his dermatology residency in the Harvard Dermatology Residency Program where he was named Chief Resident. Dr. Jarell then completed a fellowship in dermatopathology through the dermatopathology training program at the internationally-renowned University of California in San Francisco. 
 
Before medical school, he attended the United States Military Academy at West Point where he earned his Bachelor of Science in chemistry and was recognized as a Distinguished Cadet (top 5% in class academically).   
As part of his military obligation, Dr. Jarell served in two combat theaters. Most of his Army medical career was spent at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center where he was on the dermatology and dermatopathology faculty. There, he co-founded the dermatopathology fellowship program, as well as the Melanoma and Pigmented Lesion Clinic at the Murtha Cancer Center. 
 
Applying his expertise to visualize a patient’s situation and make a deeper, microscopic assessment is the most important part of Dr. Jarell’s position. His passion lies in listening closely to patients and combining microscopic assessment with their individual situation.

C. Richard Lee, MD, PhD

Dr. Lee completed residency training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and fellowship training in Dermatopathology at Baylor College of Medicine. His professional experience includes affiliation with the Laboratory of Pathology at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, underscoring a career shaped by rigorous scholarship and high-level diagnostic practice. Dr. Chyi-Chia Richard Lee is a physician-scientist and senior dermatopathologist at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH). With a career spanning over two decades at the forefront of oncological diagnostics, Dr. Lee is a key figure in the NIH’s mission to translate complex molecular findings into life-saving clinical applications. Dr. Lee’s work is fundamental to the understanding of tumor biology and Dermatology. He has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications in elite medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine and Journal of Clinical Investigation.

Ilene Bayer-Garner, MD

Dr. Bayer-Garner is a board certified dermatopathologist over 20 years of experience reading skin pathology specimens. She completed her fellowship training at Baylor Medical Center in Houston, Texas which included twice weekly melanocytic lesion conference at MD Anderson Medical Center. She is a Fellow of the American Society of Dermatopathology. Dr. Bayer-Garner has authored numerous journal articles in the field of Dermatopathology and is the recipient of the 2002 F. Steven Fogel award. She resides in Severna Park with her husband and children.

Jonathan L. Yao, MD, PhD

Dr. Yao is a board-certified dermatopathologist providing comprehensive dermatopathology services through his private concierge consultative practice, Veritas Dermatopathology, serving clients in New York and Maryland. His practice focuses on high-level diagnostic dermatopathology, laboratory directorship, CLIA compliance, digital and molecular pathology implementation, and strategic laboratory development.
 
Dr. Yao completed his dermatopathology fellowship and anatomic pathology residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, following a research fellowship at the University of California, Irvine. His work spans diagnostic dermatopathology, laboratory optimization, CLIA compliance, digital pathology implementation, and AI ethics in medical algorithms. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and is actively engaged in medical education, advocacy, and interdisciplinary scholarship integrating medicine, humanities, and technology.

Mark Lincoln, MD

Dr. Lincoln is a board‑certified dermatopathologist and anatomic/clinical pathologist with broad experience in military, academic, and community practice. He completed his dermatopathology fellowship at UCLA and his anatomic and clinical pathology residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). His scholarly work includes peer‑reviewed publications in major dermatopathology journals, contributions to StatPearls, and multiple national presentations. Dr. Lincoln has held leadership roles including Chief of Anatomic Pathology at WRNMMC and Medical Director at Keller Army Community Hospital, with professional interests spanning diagnostic dermatopathology, laboratory systems, and medical education.

Nicholas Logemann, DO

Dr. Logemann is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist.  He completed his dermatology residency and dermatopathology fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He has been both a practicing dermatologist and dermatopathologist for over 10 years. Dr. Logemann realizes the critical importance biopsy results play in patient care. He takes great care to ensure each case receives the attention it needs to render an accurate, well-reasoned diagnosis, whether through careful clinical correlation with the clinician or expert consultation with other dermatopathologists. 

He is readily available for any questions or concerns contributing clinicians may have about biopsy results as clear communication between clinicians and pathologists is paramount in providing the best care possible to our patients.

He resides in Edgewater, Maryland.

Craig Zwobot

Chief Operating Officer

Craig Zwobot is co-founder of Annapath and Chief Operating Officer, responsible for day-to-day management of the laboratory.

Mr. Zwobot resides on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where he enjoys boating and fishing with family and friends.

Laboratory Manager

In the civilian sector, Flo worked for large commercial laboratories, small private laboratories and hospital laboratories. Having processed hundreds of thousands of histopathology specimens, Flo exhibits notorious attention to detail in every technical process.
 
Flo resides in Stevensville, MD with his family and enjoys crabbing and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay.
